Things to do Nearby
Located less than 30 miles northwest of Portland, the Lakes Region of Maine has become the primary reason that Maine is called ‘Vacationland’. Vacationers from all over the world come to the area to swim, boat, fish, sail, ski, hike, golf, bicycle, antique, view the fall foliage, and most of all, relax!
With over 50 lakes in the area, including Sebago which is Maine’s 2nd largest lake and over 300 feet deep in its deepest spots, the region abounds with fresh water activities including:
Boating – enjoy kayaking, canoeing, water skiing, pontoon & power boating, tubing and paddle boarding. Bring your own or rent from any of several local vendors. Explore the Songo River and travel through the historic Songo Locks to Sebago Lake.
Fishing – Lake trout (Togue), landlocked salmon, bass, brown trout and brookies can be found in the area lakes, ponds & streams. Bring your rod or hire a fishing charter, some guides offer ocean and well as lake fishing. Need a license?
Swimming – Swim in some of the clearest lakes in the country. Enjoy the natural sandy beaches, ask the innkeepers about their favorite secluded cove.
For those seeking adventure on dry ground we suggest:
